A great example of this type of graphic is the Super Mario franchise, which is famous for its 2D world. There is no three-dimensional geometry in a 2D game as everything is constructed with flat graphics.
If you weren’t sure, a 2D game is usually ‘flat’, with graphics that only allow the player to move up, down, left, or right. I find their flat graphics so easy to pick up, playing a 2D game always reminds me of being young, and now as an adult getting to combine my favorite gaming mechanics with adult themes, it’s like living the dream. 2D games are some of my favorite games to pick up and play.
